New York, NY --- September 9, 2012 ... The State of Connecticut and Temple Beth Hillel of South Windsor, CT hosted a luncheon today for the Temple Beth Hillel Religious School Scholarship Endowment Fund.

The Honorable Nancy Wyman, the Lt. Governor of Connecticut, addressed over 100 invited guests.

"Temple Beth Hillel, the Jewish community of Connecticut and the people of Connecticut are grateful to Herb Shook and Susan Weinman for their many years of dedication for providing quality education to those students who have been fortunate enough to have had them as teachers and as friends," said Wyman.

"This fundraiser was created to provide financial aid to Jewish children in the Greater Hartford area with scholarships to Temple Beth Hillel's Religious School," said Joel Davidson, one of the event coordinators.

Sue Weinman was honored for her dedication and outstanding service as the religious school principal of Temple Beth Hillel. She has been responsible for this position for over 13 years. Ms. Weinman grew up in Brooklyn, New York and moved to CT with her husband, Jeffrey after graduating from Albany State University in New York.

In addition, she received the Lion Of Judah Award from The Jewish National Fund, professional development awards from the Commission on Jewish Education

Herb Shook, who was born in Hartford, CT was also being honored. Mr. Shook, 85, has tutored many children in their studies to become a Bar and Bat Mitzvah for over 25 years. An engineer by trade who served at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft from 1950 to 1983, Herb secured his degree in engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

Rabbi Jeffrey Glickman of Temple Beth Hillel stated: "They have given of themselves for over two decades, each. A little of their love is carried in hundreds of their students".
