NOTE TO ISRAELI MEDIA: PLEASE CONFIRM REPORTS - STOP THE RUMORS!

In the last 24 hours, news reports concerning Israel's preparedness regarding biological / chemical attacks and settlers poisoning Palestinian water supplies have not been based on fact - but rather on rumors!

Please act professionally, stop spreading rumors which serve only our enemies PR efforts.
As the White House urges the US news media to use judgment in airing al Qaeda statements, we in Israel must be vigilant in judgement and use of airing statements by the PA, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hizbollah, Iran, Syria and Iraq. In addition, Israeli journalists should secure at least two reliable Israeli sources (including the Ministries of Information, Defense, Foreign Affairs and the Government Press Office) which can confirm or deny a report before it is printed or published.
We need not do the public relations or crisis communications of those terrorist organizations which are sworn to Israel's destruction!

Let's maintain a media which is respected for it's accuracy, objectivity, balance and sensitivity to the Israeli and world public, while realizing that the State of Israel is in a state of war with local and global terror organizations and must adjust it's editorial copy / reporting and self-censorship accordingly.
