Jerusalem, Israel --- March 25, 2013 … Part of the following was communicated by the Israel Prime Minister's Office to the Israel News Agency.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this afternoon, telephoned Rafi Biton, the father of the baby girl Adel who was critically injured in a 14 March terrorist attack near Ariel, Israel.

The Prime Minister updated Biton on the arrest of the suspects involved and wished him and his family a happy Passover.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said: "Sara, I and the entire Jewish people are praying for the well being of our sweet little girl."

Adva Biton and her three young daughters were wounded when Palestinians hurled rocks at their car, causing their car to swerve off the road and collide with an oncoming truck. One of the daughters, 2-year-old Adele, was in critical condition while the mother, Adva Biton, in her 40s, and two other daughters - Avigail, 4, and Naama, 6 - were moderately injured in the terror attack.

Adva Biton is a doctor of chemistry and works as a lecturer at several academic institutions. Two crowded buses were also attacked by the Islamic terror rock throwers causing several injuries. An Israel police patrol unit was summoned to the scene, but while en route to the bus, it received the call to rush to the scene of the crash in which Adva Biton and her girls were injured. Firefighters and emergency health services were summoned to the scene to provide first aid and rescue services. They found the girls trapped inside the vehicle, with varying degrees of injuries.

Passover (Pesach) celebrates the deliverance of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. The eight-day festival of Passover is celebrated in the early spring, from the 15th through the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nissan. To commemorate the unleavened bread that the Israelites ate when they left Egypt, we don’t eat - or even retain in our possession - any chametz from midday of the day before Passover until the conclusion of the holiday. Chametz means leavened grain - any food or drink that contains even a trace of wheat, barley, rye, oats, spelt or their derivatives, and which wasn’t guarded from leavening or fermentation.

The name “Passover” is derived from the Hebrew word Pesach which is based on the root “pass over” and refers to the fact that G-d “passed over” the houses of the Jews when he was slaying the firstborn of Egypt during the last of the ten plagues.

For many in Israel we do not forget the Passover Massacre of 2002 that occured in Netanaya, Israel. An Islamic Jihad suicide bomber murdered 23 people and injured 180 at the Park Hotel. To the victims and their families, our thoughts are always with you.

The staff of the Israel News Agency wishes the Jewish nation a peaceful, happy and healthy Passover holiday.
