Michael
Cherney Foundation Sponsors Publication - The Gold of Exile
Jerusalem
---- April 6..... The Michael Cherney (Mikhail Chernoy) Foundation
has sponsored the publication of The Gold of Exile: Spiritual
and Cultural Integration of Russian Jews in Israel, a collection
of articles distributed by Gesharim Publishers in Jerusalem,
Israel.
The articles in the book describe various aspects of acculturation
of Russia speaking immigrants in Israel. So far, it is essentially
the one and only book that considers the most important problems
of spiritual and cultural integration of the Russian Jewry in
Israel.
The authors of over 20 articles are well-known scientists, public
figures, and writers, who describe and analyze the process of
integration, or the melting of the Gold of Exile
the spiritual and cultural baggage of former Soviet citizens.
The chief conclusion of the book is that in the twenty years
that have passed since the onset of mass Russian Jewish immigration,
the Russian-speaking Olim have become a decisive factor of transformation
and modernization of Israel society. They changed its national
self-awareness and identity, as well as its attitudes towards
ideology, politics, education, culture, religion, and tradition.
The collection was put together and edited by Moshe Kenigshtein.
Michael
Cherney (Mikhail Chernoy) Foundation views its main overall
objective as helping democratic nations in their war on terrorism
as well as realization of the intellectual potential of the
post-Soviet immigration to Israel and their integration into
the Israel society.
The
Fund's contribution in conveying the truth about the war of
terror against the Jewish people has met with high appreciation
from the media, public organizations, and the Israeli government.

children and youth-oriented programs, in human rights, counter-anti-Semitism
