----- April 29, 2008 ....... The recent publication of A
Jew - Who Is He A National and Religious Self-Determination
with Precedence Rulings by The High Court of Justice, by
Gesharim Jerusalem, was sponsored by the Michael Cherney (Mikhail
Chernoy) Foundation in Israel. The Cherney publication has become
an excellent tool for those who are interested in Israel's dilemmas
concerning religion and state.
The publication of the second volume (out of 9) of Collected
Works by Vladimir (Ze'ev) Jabotinsky by Jabotinsky Institute,
Israel and "The Ark", Moscow Jewish Center is nearing
a presentation, with sponsorship by the Michael
Cherney Foundation. This is the first attempt to bring together
all Jabotinsky's Russia language writings, 90 percent of which
haven't been reprinted since the first publication. The project
is expected to be completed in 2010, the 130th anniversary of
Jabotinsky's birth and the 70th anniversary of his death.
The Druze community in Israel, with a generous grant from the
Michael Cherney Foundation, will be publishing a memorial book
in the name of Yuri Shtern, who, during his public office as
an Israel Member of Knesset, assisted the Druze community in
Israel. In this book, Yuri's Druze friends and associates share
their personal stories and memories.
Another book in memory of MK Yuri Shtern (in Russian only) by
professor of Tel Aviv University, Moshe Kenigshtein, was published
by "Bridges of Culture Gesharim", with assistance
from the MCF.
This book discusses the various effects that Russian immigration
had on the development of Israel and the status of Russian immigrants
at present time.
MCF has made the information war on terrorism a top priority
among its activities. The first publication in the new series
is called 'Truth and Lies' is a Russian edition of The Non-Existent
Manuscript: A Study of the Protocols of the Sages of Zion
by Cesare G. De Michelis which is a fascinating popular study,
where every hypothesis is supported by incontrovertible evidence.
With assistance from MCF, Mechanaim has published the book
Rav Avraham Kook - The Man And His Teachings". This
is the first such work by Dr. Pinchas Polonsky, a lecturer at
Bar Ilan University in Israel, that is dedicated solely to the
analysis of religious Zionism.
The
Michael Cherney Foundation provides help mostly to the new arrivals
who have made Aliya to Israel, victims of catastrophes and acts
of terrorism that continue to bleed Israel, as well as to low-income,
victims of terror in other nations. Another equally important
task assumed by the Cherney Foundation is the media effort in
the war on global terror. Shortly after the Dolphinarium terror
attack on a Tel Aviv disco in 2001, the Michael Cherney Foundation
published a book entitled: Dolphinarium: Terror Targets the
Young and produced an internationally acclaimed film documentary
The Empty Rooms.
