New
York, New York --- March 21, 2012 .... What crime did 8-year-old
Miriam Monsonego commit? What was she guilty of?
The answer would be the same for those who were murdered by the
Nazis during the Holocaust. She was Jewish.
On
Monday morning thousands of French schoolchildren were on their
way to classes. But for a few Jewish schoolchildren this would
be their last trek to school. An Islamic terrorist, Mohammed Merah,
23, drove up to the entrance of the Ozar Hatorah school in Toulouse
on a motor scooter and gunned down a rabbi and his two young sons,
then chased down the daughter of the school principal, shooting
her dead at point-blank range.
The
three young children and Rabbi were buried in Jerusalem today.
Mohammed
Merah belonged to al-Qaida and told police in France that he wanted
to take revenge for Palestinian children killed in the Middle
East. What Merah did not hear was Palestinian Prime Minister Salam
Fayyad denounce the terror attack before it took place.
"It's
time for criminals to stop using the Palestinian cause to justify
their terrorist actions," Fayyad said in a statement. "The
children of Palestine want nothing but dignified lives for themselves
and for all the children."
Merah was
trained by Islamic terrorists in Afghanistan where he was being
picked up by Afghan police who turned him over to the US army.
The US military then placed him on a military plane to back to
France.
Mohammed Merah
hatred for Jews was the result of lies and propaganda spread by
Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and al-Qaida. A global,
Islamic campaign of hatred and distorted facts that has seeped
into both the UN and the EU.
Catherine
Ashton, head of foreign policy for the EU made a direct parallel
between the Jewish murders in France and children dying in Gaza.
The only thing that she overlooked was that the children in France
were professionally executed. The children of Gaza died as they
were being used as human shields by Islamic terrorists. As Israel
sought to defend herself from unprovoked rocket attacks against
her cities and towns including Sderot, Beer Sheva, Ashdod and
Ashkelon she found herself shooting at terrorists who were hiding
in and behind schools and hospitals.
"According
to Israel INTEL and NYPD the US, France and UK are prime
targets for Islamic attacks."
On the same
day that saw Jewish children bleed in France, the UN Human Rights
Council and its UN staff in Geneva invited a leader of the terrorist
organization Hamas to speak. It is in the Hamas charter to murder
Jews anywhere and everywhere.
The Middle
East is full of racist hatred. Arab governments use Israel to
deflect from their own citizens protesting against poverty, freedom
and human rights. Democratic Israel, the most open society in
the Middle East, Jews and Christians have become targets as "Infidels"
who according to Islamic Sharia law must be murdered.
Miriam Monsonego
could have easily been John, Steven, Josh, Debbie, Amanda, Jennifer,
Christopher, Susan or any US child in one of dozens of cities
and towns in America. Is New York, Hartford, Phoenix, Seattle,
Denver, Philadelphia, Springfield, Los Angeles, Charlotte, Detroit,
Miami, Baltimore or Tampa next on the list to be struck by Islamic
terrorists?
According
to Israel INTEL and the NYPD the US, along with France and the
UK are prime targets for Islamic attacks.
The government
of Iran has been caught videotaping and photographing New York
City landmarks a top city police official told US Congress today,
as he warned the city could be the "ideal target" for
Iran if tensions escalate.
"Iran and or Hezbollah remain deeply committed to attacking
Israel and Western targets and they are willing to deploy a variety
of methods in order to do so," he said.
New York Police
Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said that NYPD's Counterterrorism
Bureau has assigned critical response vehicles to patrol around
about 20 Jewish institutions and neighborhoods.
US Homeland
Security does an excellent job but for all their efforts, they
cannot and will not guarantee that the US lives in a vacuum.
We are not
talking about Iranian boats off shore by a few miles that can
launch missiles at US cities. What we are talking about are lone
Jihadists living in your city or town waiting for the right time
to attack a "soft target" - an unprotected Christian
or Jewish facility where the people say that it can't happen here.
So what security
measures can schools, churches and Jewish synagogues take in order
to deter and prevent terror attacks on children?
Start with
the perimeter. Install fences with motion activated cameras. Make
sure that the streets leading to the church or Temple have signs
stating "no standing" and that these signs are enforced
by the city and town. Keep unattended windows doors locked at
all times. During religious services have an armed guard placed
by the door.
Uniformed
volunteers can be used to stand guard and deter would be attackers.
Keep the perimeter of the religious facility well lit. All doors
and windows need to be taped and alarm activated. Alarms that
will also notify your local police department in seconds. Have
a panic room, a safe place that cannot be entered by attackers,
stored with emergency food, water and communications where you
can lock yourself and those around you.

If you spot
any packages, bags or objects that stand by themselves in populated
areas, do not touch them. Report all suspicious items to the police
and move away from the items.
Lastly, work
in direct cooperation with your local police department. Let them
know exactly what precautions your facility has taken and what
added steps they recommend.
The Anti-Defamation
League - (ADL) has created a comprehensive handbook on focusing
security for the Jewish community designed to help security planners
at all types of religious institutions. The handbook is free and
offered here: www.adl.org/security
In a recent
poll conducted by the ADL when asked if violence against Jews
is rooted in anti-Jewish or anti-Israel sentiment, four in 10
Europeans (39 percent) responded that it was the result of anti-Jewish
sentiment. In France, 45 percent of those asked held this view,
up from 39 percent in the previous survey.
Those
increases are all the more disturbing in light of the shooting
attack at the Jewish school in Toulouse, said Abraham H.
Foxman, ADL national director of the Monday (March 19) shootings
in France.
In light
of the incessant anti-Israel and anti-Semitic rhetoric worldwide,
we urge that all Jewish institutions review their security procedures
in conjunction with local law enforcement, said Dr. Shimon
Samuels, director of international relations for the Los Angeles-based
Simon Wiesenthal Center.
Unfortunately,
the Jewish community lives in vigilance against terrorism and
anti-Semitic attacks 24/7/ 365 days a year, said Foxman.
The Holocaust
has taught us much about man's cruelty to man. The most we can
do is try to create bridges of understanding with Muslims (the
US government is now addressing this worldwide) and let them know
that we are not their enemy while at the same time - remaining
vigilant against terror attacks.
What has happened
in France this week has already taken place in the US, London,
Paris, India, Moscow, Bangkok and cities around the world. Have
we really forgotten 9/11 so quickly? Those murdered in broad daylight
in New York and Washington?
The Islamic
hate and terror attacks are out there. Don't make yourself a target.
And don't allow your children to be in harm's way.
You can believe
in Christ and in a Jewish god but please remember - god only helps
those who help themselves.
