An eyewitness reported seeing a heart still beating lying on the sidewalk amidst the shattered glass. "There was no body, just a heart beating. I didn't think such a thing could happen. But I saw it and others saw it," he said.
The bus driver was instantly killed and the vehicle lurched forward out of control for about 50 meters after the blast, the driver slumped over the wheel. Those passengers who survived the barbaric attack were seen screaming and attempting to jump out of shattered windows.

"People were yelling, `take us out of here'," said a witness, Herzl Ben-Moshe, who rushed to the bus to help rescue passengers.

The blast scorched the bus and blew out its windows. One man with blood over his bare chest was wheeled away by paramedics. Another man sat on the sidewalk, crying.

The public bus exploded at the corner of Allenby and Rothschild streets in downtown Tel Aviv, a diverse area that houses a Starbucks coffee shop, the Tel Aviv Great Synagogue, upscale cafes and working-class bars in close proximity. The terrorist hit Tel Aviv at lunchtime, with streets filled with workers.
This was yet another blind and senseless Islamic terrorist attack whose short term victims were Israelis, foreign workers and tourists. Long term, these Islamic terrorists have created an economic situation of near devastation for Israel, but of even greater hardship for the Palestinian population which depends upon a thriving Israeli economy.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is presently meeting with his entire cabinet where swift and potent military action is being coordinated to isolate a "talking peace" but implementing terror Yasser Arafat.
Arafat has not taken one step to reduce violence and terrorism in the region. As Arafat "speaks peace" in English he calls for Palestinian children in Arabic to become suicide bombers. His stated goal is no different than Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah - the total elimination of Israel through terrorism.
Arafat has been responsible for having Christian Arabs abandon their homes (the result of death threats, i.e. - Bethlehem, Beit Jala, Nazareth) so that Islamic terrorists can use these homes and adjacent holy sites as physical shields to launch terror attacks.
The Israeli government continues to seek partners for peace as security forces implement further measures to protect Israel's civilian population from both external and internal threats of terrorism.

Over 617 Israelis have been murdered in Islamic terror attacks since September 2000.
