Jerusalem, Israel --- August 10, 2011 .... Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sent his condolences to US President Barack Obama and to the American people over the deaths of the 30 US Armed Forces personnel who were killed in Afghanistan last weekend.

The people of Israel bow their heads in memory of those who fought for freedom and against global terrorism."

The death of 22 US Navy SEALs among the 30 US troops killed in the weekend downing of an American helicopter in Afghanistan dealt an enormous blow to one of the US military's most elite fighting units. These brave young men were products of a remarkably intensive, secretive special operations program designed to increase America's military effectiveness while reducing wartime casualties. It is a sad irony that they themselves are now among the casualties.

The INTEL they provide including eyewitness identification of high-value targets and precision coordinates of their locations, even in hostile nations such as Iran, vastly increases the chances of success and reduces the potential for costly mistakes.

Israel also takes note of the seven Afghan troops on the Chinook twin-rotor helicopter that was downed by Islamic terror rocket-grenade fire. The SEALs and other special operations forces take pains to work with and train local forces, preparing them to take over the fight.

The loss of any defense force member is tragic and the men killed last weekend almost certainly would not have wanted to be portrayed as somehow worthy of special attention. They died doing a job they loved, serving a country and democracy they loved. And that's what makes these US forces and the IDF special forces in Israel including Sayerat Matkal, YAMAM, MAGAV, Givati, Golani, Handasa, Paratroopers, air force rescue, Navy commandos special.

In breaking news, the US military has announced today that they know who shot down the helicopter filled with 38 American and Afghan troops, including the Navy SEALs. A US spokesperson in Kabul says that the man is now dead, killed by a “precision airstrike” from an F-16.
