Tel Aviv----August 3......Since the war in Lebanon began three weeks ago with the Hezbollah terror organization, the Israel civilian populations of Haifa, Kiryat Shmona, Nahariya, Metulla, Rosh Pina, Nazareth and Tiberius have suffered numerous casualties, hundreds of injuries, emotional trauma and economic devastation. According to the Israel police over 2,000 rockets and Hezbollah missiles have slammed into Israel from Lebanon as a result of terror rocket attacks.

Over 70 Israelis, including babies and children, have died with more than 1,700 Israelis injured. Lebanon has totally ignored UN Resolution 1559, which called for the Lebanese government to disarm the Hezbollah terror organization. A terror group whose logistics and funding come from Syria and Iran. Israel business leaders estimate the damage to the Israel economy is as high as $112 million a day in lost output from the full and partial closure of many of the more than 1,500 factories in the northern Israel region, lower employment and empty hotels.

Israel La’ad a non-profit, humanitarian organization based in Israel whose mission has been to address the needs of underprivileged groups in Israel has raised thousands of dollars for Israelis living in the North and to provide support packages for Israel Defense Forces soldiers fighting in Lebanon.

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, we will be coordinating a conveys of humanitarian relief vehicles which will distribute thousands of dollars of food, clothing and other essentials to the civilian populations of the border cities of Kiryat Shamona, Nahariya and Metulla," said Raanan Levy, chairman of Israel La'ad. "We will be buying all essentials from stores in the North as our intention is to assist in keeping the economy of the North running."

"It is truly a perverse distortion of much of the international media to focus their cameras solely on Lebanon refugees, when Israelis are also being killed and displaced," said Levy. "The population of Israel is bleeding. A nation whose only crime was to pull out of Lebanon, respect an international border and is now defending herself from Hezbollah and Hamas terror rocket attacks."

Hizbollah rockets murdered eight people in northern Israel today, equaling the most lethal barrage launched by the Lebanon terror group since fighting began. The deaths, in the cities of Acre and Maalot, raised the numbers of people killed by rocket fire from Lebanon during the current conflict. More than 100 rockets struck in the late afternoon, killing eight people and wounding dozens, police said. It was the highest number of Israeli dead in a rocket attack since eight people were killed in the port city of Haifa on July 16.

A hospital in Nahariya, Israel was one of hundreds of
civilian targets hit by Hezbollah Katusha and Iranian rockets.

On a road outside Maalot, cars came to a screeching stop and motorists ran for cover in ditches at the sound of multiple explosions. Smoke rose over the town and a nearby forest. "People have been holed up in shelters -- it is difficult, but people understand that soldiers are still fighting in Lebanon and we will get through this period," Acre Mayor Shimon Lancry said on Israel Channel 2 television.

Israel La’ad, which was founded in 2004 by a small group of Israel businessmen, currently operates the "Feed the Hungry", Afternoon Learning Centers (ALC) and "Ride for Pride" projects in several towns across Israel and has been able to reach and provide relief to many people in need. Israel La’ad works hand-in-hand with the social and welfare services offices in the towns it operates and has received great praise from those it has worked with. These offices direct Israel La’ad to those who need its help most.

Raanan Levy, a Zionist activist and a former Advisor to the Israel Prime Minister on World Jewish and World Christian Affairs, is urging the world community to contribute as much funding as possible through the Israel La'ad Website.
