Jerusalem
--- February 23, 2009...... Part of the the following communication
was sent from the Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Government
Press Office to the Israel News Agency.
In
the ongoing Israel humanitarian effort for the people of Gaza,
since the unilateral cease fire with Hamas (18/1/2009), 112,991
tons of aid and 10,062,900 liters of fuel for the Gaza power
station have been delivered to the Gaza Strip.
Today,
Kerem Shalom, Nahal Oz, Karni and Erez crossings operated enabling
humanitarian movements and transfer of humanitarian goods in
to Gaza. Throughout the day, a total of 156 trucks with 4139
tons of supplies at the request of UNRWA and the World Food
Programme, the International Committee of the Red Cross, UNICEF
and ANERA, and goods for the public and private sectors that
included, fruit, medical supplies, rice, flour, sugar, oil,
hatching eggs, blankets, diapers, personal hygiene items. Via
Nahal Oz fuel depot, 442,000 liters of heavy duty diesel for
the Gaza power station 100 tons of gas for domestic uses were
transferred.
The
transfer of this humanitarian aid continued despite several
breaches of the cease fire by Hamas who have been firing missiles
at Israel cities and towns and attempted terror attacks such
as the one today where IDF soldiers prevented a large-scale
attack at the Gaza Kissufim border crossing. Israel provides
hundreds of tons of food, water, gas, electricity and medicine
into the Gaza Strip on a daily basis. Israel is not at war with
the Palestinian people, but with the Hamas terror organization
which is committed to the total destruction of the state of
Israel.
Hamas
has fired over 8,000 missiles into Israel cities and towns since
Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza in a peace move three
years ago.
The
United Nations recently stopped all humanitarian aid into Gaza
as a result of Hamas
stealing UN aid at gun point.
Hamas attempts to prevent the people of Gaza from reaching this
aid and therefore creates a Pallywood crisis for PR purposes.
Hamas then sells this aid on the blackmarket in Gaza.
