Jerusalem,
Israel --- March 12, 2012 .... In response to a third day of unprovoked
terror rocket attacks by Hamas terrorists in Gaza, Israel is now
turning to the UN and Facebook for help.
Over
200 rockets have been launched by Hamas and Islamic Jihad from
Gaza at the Israel cities of Beer Sheva, Ashdod and Ashkelon.
These rockets have slammed into schools, kindergartens and homes.
Many Israelis have been injured. Almost all children are now suffering
from trauma.
Over 1 million Israelis living within the range of Gaza rockets
have taken cover in air raid shelters. All school activity has
been canceled.
Two
of the terror rockets fired today exploded near Gedera, Israel
just 40 kilometers south of Tel Aviv and another missile struck
inside the southern city of Ashdod. The rockets and the thousands
of lethal ball bearings that they contain fly like arrows for
hundreds of meters caused heavy damage to buildings and vehicles.
A
spokesperson for Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said
yesterday that one rocket site which was hit by the IDF was being
used to launch Iran built Fajr-5 missiles.
"The IAF
- Israel Air Force destroyed launching pits of Fajr long range
rockets that can hit Tel Aviv," Ofir Gendelman posted on
Twitter. "This is the result of meticulous intelligence work."
Israel's
deputy ambassador to the United Nations, Haim Waxman, sent a letter
of complaint yesterday to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and
members of the UN Security Council. The complaint addressed the
barrage of rocket attacks, calling on them to "unequivocally
condemn" the terror attacks against Jewish civilians and
do everything in their power to "stop the rocket fire that
continues to rain down on Jewish children, in violation of every
precept of international law."
Israel
left the Gaza Strip in an unilateral peace move on 1 September
2005, withdrawing all IDF soldiers and all Israeli citizens.
Chief
IDF military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yoav Mordechai said Israel would
halt its defensive raids if the rocket fire stopped, but added
that the Israel Defense Forces would continue to take pre-emptive
action to foil terror attack plans against Israeli civilians.
"The
Israel government is coordinating efforts between the IDF and
the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs to document the terror
rocket attacks from Gaza with both first hand accounts, photographs
and videos on Facebook," said Israel News Agency Publisher
Joel Leyden. "We were successful in creating "I
Support the Israel Defence Forces in Preventing Terror Attacks
from Gaza with over 100,000 members back in 2009, we are now
repeating this same action in asking the world to stop this Islamic
Jihad (Holy War) against Jews and Christians in the Holy Land."
The pro-Israel,
pro-democracy, anti-terrorism Facebook site was created by Internet
journalist, social media marketing, PR and SEO pioneer Joel Leyden.
As many in
the mainstream media report that Israel is being attacked by "militants",
a public outrage is growing against CNN and BBC for such misleading
descriptions.
"When
the London bombings took place in 2005, when the US was hit during
9/11, the BBC and CNN correctly described the assailants as terrorists,"
said Leyden.
"Terrorism
is the act of attacking civilians. This is what Hamas and Islamic
Jihad are now doing. BBC believes that by calling Hamas militants
and not terrorists, they will still have access to them and video
footage that they can sell. And by doing so BBC is literally whitewashing
reality and in fact encouraging these Islamic terrorists to attack
our children. That the BBC is encouraging crimes against humanity
in order to secure greater market share with the UK and global
audience, should shock each and every diplomat, each and every
human being."
"The
support Israel against terrorism Facebook group is open 24/7 as
public opinion directly affects life on the ground," says
Leyden. "Please forward this Facebook room to your family,
friends and the media. Let them know that Israel wants peace but
will defend herself when attacked."
