Jerusalem----September 2.....Subject: Senior Islamic Jihad terrorist arrested by IDF forces this morning near Jenin.
Muhamed Jerar, an explosives expert, was arrested while planning to carry out a suicide terrorist attack in Israel within days.

Muhamed Ahmed Amin Jerar, 42, one of the commanders of the Islamic Jihad military wing in Jenin was arrested by the Israeli security forces this morning, 02/09/02 in the village of Kod, west of Jenin.

Jerar is known as an explosive expert. He was responsible for several explosive laboratories and was engaged in the teaching and training of the making and use of explosive materials & devices for the terrorists in the area of Jenin. Jerar was arrested while planning to carry out a suicide terrorist attack inside Israel within days.

Jerar was in close relations with other senior Jihad Islamic terrorists in the area of Jenin. Among his students were Mahmud Tualbe Nursi, who was killed during operation "Defensive Shield" and was responsible for several terrorist attacks against Israelis, including the suicide attack in the train station in Binyamina in July 2001.

Jerar's arrest prevented a suicide terrorist attack inside Israel and prevented a severe amount of Israeli casualties. This arrest seriously damaged the capabilities of Islamic Jihad's military wing in the area of Jenin.
