Israel News Agency Jerusalem----August
30......As Israel was defending herself from cross-border terror attacks from
Lebanon in 1999, Olivier Rafowicz was serving as an IDF Major responsible for
all media communications from the Northern Command. Rafowicz, who had made Aliyah
from France, took the initiative to place a well-known, respected military reporter
from Israel's leading radio station in the lead vehicle of an IDF patrol which
was climbing the narrow, twisting and lethal roads on Israel's border. The
commander of the IDF patrol insisted that the news reporter sit next to him for
a bird's eye view. Being that there was no more room in the armored personnel
carrier, Olivier stepped out and took a seat in a jeep behind the lead vehicle.
Minutes later, there were two loud explosions and a plume of dark smoke rose from
where the lead car was. Olivier's commander and the reporter were instantly killed
by two roadside bombs. Olivier and other officers on the scene took charge and
instructed the convoy to rescue the wounded and keep moving to avoid an ambush. Today,
Olivier Rafowicz still takes charge and moves forward with charm, creative wit
and infectious confidence. He leads both the Israel Defense Forces and commercial
news, public relations and public affairs operations up creative paths. When not
serving as a reserve IDF Colonel in the Spokesperson's unit, Oliver can be seen
on the other side of the fence creating TV news packages for Israel's leading
international Internet news program - Infolive.tv. "We
wanted to create a highly professional, international Internet TV video news program
from Israel to illustrate what is going on here for the millions of people who
are dependent on news from the Arab world and from Israel," said Rafowicz.
"Our goal was really to create and to produce an independent news video channel.
The idea was born in the mind of Jews abroad, mostly in France during a tough
period when Israel was being attacked daily during the Intifada." Rafowicz
continues: "Infolive Israel TV News was basically a reaction to distorted
news reporting and was formed in order to objectively and accurately deliver the
news from Israel for the educational and research needs of Jews, Christians, Muslims,
Palestine and all other people abroad by receiving online, real-time TV news with
an Israel perspective." According
to Alexa.com, Infolive.tv Israel news from Jerusalem has more traffic and hits
than any other Israel news Internet broadcasting program. During the recent war
with Hezbollah in Lebanon, Infolive.tv Israel news reached over 60 million viewers
in North America, Europe, the Middle-East, South America and Asia.
Rafowicz states that there was a group of French businessmen who decided to invest
in the development of an Israel TV news Website video platform. Claude Oliel,
a French Businessman, owner of a French advertising company, and has been connected
to Israel, is the leading figure of the project. He knew how to develop a group
of investors and the right professional people to turn Infolive.tv news from a
dream to reality. "Oliel
strongly believes in the need for the Jewish Diaspora to be connected 24 hours
a day to a TV Internet news channel reflecting Israel news and opinions,"
said Rafowicz. Rafowicz
told the Israel News Agency that he was recently sent to France by the
Jewish Agency for two years and witnessed the "strong impact of anti-Semitism
on both the public and the media." Rafowicz, who authored Le
temps du retour, then decided to commit himself to take action and counter
the many negative and perverted images which portray Israel in the global media.
Olivier, who
was the IDF officer in charge of all media operations in Bethlehem during the
seize of the Church of Nativity by Islamic terrorists in 2002, describes the Israel
Internet TV news operation as a mix of video TV news and rich media that produces
a unique, high quality news channel in four languages based on leading edge technology.
The news site broadcasts real-time TV news, breaking news, editorial pieces, financial
reports and in-depth features. The Israel TV news site also has links to everything
Jewish from Jerusalem from on-line dating to selling promotional items such as
maps, t-shirt, hats, bumper stickers and Judaica. Infolive.Tv
news is divided into four distinct news desks. Among the languages now being broadcast
live and by direct streaming video feed are English,
French, Arabic
and Spanish. Each news
desk has its own native tongue journalists who are supervised by a News Desk Head.
All four Desk Heads along with the Editor-in-Chief, are responsible for decisions
relating to the posting of onsite news and feature material from Israel. Infolive.tv
Israel news also hosts celebrity journalists such as former CNN reporter
Jerrold Keesel, Danny Rubinstein and Yoni Ben-Menahem, who provide journalistic
analysis on a weekly basis of current major issues. In addition to the above,
the company has several teams of professional editors and cameramen working under
one of the most professional and talented technical managers in the TV industry.
The Infolive
TV Israel news executive branch consists of two posts, CEO, Olivier Rafowicz,
and Deputy General Manager of Infolive.tv news marketing, Anna Gerstenhaber. As
part of her marketing strategies, Anna is now managing a team of Internet and
academic researchers who are currently creating a searchable on-line catalogue
of Infolive.tv Israel news archives. "What
we are witnessing here, is a dramatic revolution in how broadcast and print news
is now being disseminated globally," says Rafowicz. "Business people,
academics, news editors, diplomats, religious leaders, students, researchers,
financial analysts and tourists - everyone who has a computer with Internet in
their home or their office can now receive the latest, most professional news
programming in real-time streaming video TV without a fee and at any hour of the
day."
