Democracy
vs. Terrorism - Congress, UN Vote On Goldstone Israel Gaza Report

---- November 3, 2009 ..... There was never an easier vote to
decide upon.
Today the
US House of Representatives is expected to vote on a resolution
requesting US President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton to
oppose unequivocally any endorsement or further consideration
of the Report of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission
on the Gaza Conflict.
What has become
known as the UN Goldstone
Report, a biased, one sided investigation that refers to the
internationally recognized terror group Hamas as "militants
in occupied Gaza who have a right to resist", is moving through
Washington today and expected to make its next stop at the UN
in New York tomorrow.
"Militants"
- not terrorists. Militants who have committed a double human
rights crime as they launched more than 8,000 terror rockets from
Gaza at civilians in Israel while hiding behind civilians in Gaza.
"Occupied"
- Israel left Gaza four years ago. In a unilateral peace move,
the IDF moved out of the Gaza strip and evacuated her settlements
there. Gaza is under the totalitarian rule of Hamas, a puppet
Islamic terror organization created and funded - not by Palestinians
- but by Iran.
"Resist"
- against what? Israel left Gaza. But that was not enough for
Hamas which has declared that their goal is the same as Iran,
total destruction, to wipe Israel off the map. And Hamas, in their
Islamic Jihad are waging a holy war. This is not about land. It
is about not being a Muslim. For if you are Jewish or Christian
you then qualify for the title of "infidel" and you
should be murdered.
What is Judge
Richard Goldstone smoking?
The man has
an impressive past but many are now saying that he took an opportunistic
UN role as a stepping stone to become the next Secretary General
of the United Nations.
Israel is
the only democracy in the Middle East. As such, Israel has become
a threat to every Arab nation. Not because Israel has any intention
of attacking and taking over Arab land. But because the many oil
rich Arab states keep their peoples suppressed - living in poverty,
severe unemployment and a total lack of basic human rights. Islamic
women are brutally beaten for not obeying their husbands or for
questioning their governments. Elections, such as the one recently
held in Iran, are hijacked by dictators.
A report by
more than 100 intellectuals from Arab countries says poverty,
unemployment, authoritarian rule and conflict are undermining
freedoms and quality of life for people in the Middle East and
North Africa, according to the Arab Human Development Report.
The report was the fifth in a series sponsored by the United Nations
Development Program (UNDP) and is independently compiled by scholars
from Arab countries.
It gets a
little confusing, yes?
On one hand
the UN states that little freedom and only poverty rule in the
Arab states, yet Israel is placed under the microscope by the
UN for defending the civilians of Sderot, Ashkelon and Ashdod
from 8,000 unprovoked Hamas missile attacks!
So again,
we ask why is the UN Goldstone Report so important?
Because it simply diverts attention away from the negative domestic
issues in Iran, Syria, Libya, Saudi Arabia and many other Arab
oil rich states.
And many see
through the transparency here including former United Nations
High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, who has stated:
"I am afraid the resolution is not balanced. This is unfortunately
a practice by the Council: adopting resolutions guided not by
human rights but by politics. This is very regrettable."
Israel states
that it is "appalled and disappointed" by the UN Goldstone
Report which was published on September 15, 2009 by the UN Gaza
Fact Finding Mission. "The UN Goldstone Report effectively
ignores Israel right of self defense, makes unsubstantiated claims
about its intent and challenges Israel's democratic values and
rule of law."
The Israel
Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said: "At the same time the
UN Goldstone Report all but ignores the deliberate strategy of
the internationally recognized terror group Hamas of operating
within and behind a civilian population and turning densely populated
areas into an arena of battle. By turning a blind eye to such
tactics it effectively rewards them."
"The
UN Goldstone Report barely disguises its goal of instigating a
political campaign against Israel, and in its recommendations
seeks to involve the Security Council, the UN General Assembly
the International Criminal Court, the Human Rights Council, and
the entire international community in such a campaign."
Israel President
and Nobel Peace Prize winner Shimon Peres responded to the UN
Goldstone Report saying that it "makes a mockery of history."
That the UN Goldstone Israel Gaza War Crimes Report "does
not distinguish between the aggressor and the defender."
And respected
Harvard Law School Professor Alan Dershowitz states: "The
report gives de facto legitimacy to terrorist initiatives and
ignores the obligation and right of every country to defend itself,
as the UN itself had clearly stated. The effect, if not the intent,
of the UN Goldstone report will be to keep Israel troops in the
West Bank longer."
Will the passing
of one the greatest blood libels against the Jewish people - the
UN Goldstone Report - aid in the peace process or help destroy
it? Will the passing of the Goldstone Report deter terrorists
from striking at civilians living in democracies or will it encourage
more attacks?
Col. Richard
Kemp speaking on the second day of an emergency special
session at the UN called by pro-Palestinian governments
aimed at accusing Israel of war crimes during the operation, stated:
"In its offensive against Hamas in Gaza last winter, the
Israel army did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a
combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare.
Kemp is the former commander of British forces in Afghanistan.
Does anyone really care what Kemp has to say? What the truth,
the facts really are?
It's simply
a matter of democracy vs. terrorism.
If we give
Islamic terrorists the right to strike at towns and cities in
Israel, to encourage the use of missiles against Tel Aviv, it
will just be a matter of time until New York, London and Paris
are struck again by more "militant" bombs by those who
have a "right to resist".
Wasn't 9/11,
the London terror bombings, the terror attacks in Madrid, Turkey,
Bali and Egypt enough?
How much more blood will the leaders of Arab oil rich states go
for in their PR campaigns against Israel in order to conceal their
own severe contempt of basic human rights and political justice
to remain in power?
