New York, New York --- September 27, 2012 ... Standing in the shadow of Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad calls for the elimination of Israel, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the UN General Assembly today that red lines were needed to protect modern civilizations. That Israel and Jerusalem, which was ruled by King Daivd over 3,000 years, will "never be uprooted again".

Netanyahu said that on the Jewish high holiday of Yom Kippur we remember the extermination of 6 million Jews during the Holocaust and other atrocities placed upon the Jewish people, but we also celebrate our courage - our modern beliefs for peace and the enjoyment of prosperity.

"Israel believes that each life is sacred, we do not believe in medieval beliefs where women lack basic human rights and where death is glorified. Israel stands with modernity - protects the rights of all minorities."

"Everyone here has enjoyed the fruit, the good fruit that has come from Israel - every cellphone and computer has our technology, we irrigate arid lands, we show compassion - being the first to provide disaster relief to many nations including Haiti, Japan, Turkey and Indonesia."

Netanyahu added that thousands of Arabs from Gaza, the West Bank and from other Arab nations are treated in Israel hospitals on a daily basis.

"Because Israel cherishes life - we seek peace. I say to Palestine Authority President Abbas - we do not solve conflict by creating libelous statements. Israel wants a demilitarized Palestine - Israel wants to see a Middle East flourish in peace and respect."

" We are all challenged and threatened by the radical forces of Islam which want to destroy Israel, Europe and America. Radical Islam does not show tolerance - they want to draw humanity back to dogma and conflict but I say that light will penetrate the darkness with freedom, human rights and modern technology."

"Its not whether this fanaticism is defeated but how many lives will be destroyed," said Netanyahu.

"We need red lines to prevent a nuclear holocaust."

"Nazi Germany did the same thing - but the world waited to long to act. We cannot let that happen again. It is not just Israel, but the world which is being threatened. A nuclear armed Iran - fired by the same hatred and violence found thousands of years ago is a lethal threat for all of us. In 2009 Iran put down massive protests for democracy and today murders innocent civilians and children in Syria."

"Thousands of missiles have been fired at Israel towns and cities and this was after Israel made unilateral peace moves - given this record of Iranian aggression without nuclear weapons - then what if they had these weapons? Who would be safe in Europe? Militant Jihadists are not secular Marxists. Iran believes that a holy man will appear during this Islamic holy war - this thinking rules their beliefs."

Iran uses diplomacy and talks to avoid delays in their lethal, nuclear program said Netanyahu.

Iran has suffered a 50 percent decline in its oil exports as a result of sanctions by the EU and other nations, including the US, Canada, Australia, Japan and South Korea. As a result, the country’s oil revenues have declined by $40 billion since the beginning the year.

And although sanctions on the Iran central bank have hampered the government’s access to its foreign currency reserves and prices of basic necessities have risen sharply, sanctions have not worked. The IAEA states that Iran has doubled the number of their centrifuges. We need clear red lines on Iran nuclear weapons program.

"Red lines prevent war," said Netanyahu. "The failure to draw red lines creates conflict. Red lines would have stopped the Nazis, red lines must be drawn today on Iran efforts to enrich uranium."

Netanyahu showed the UN General Assembly a picture of a bomb and drew a red line before final stage of development.

"No one appreciates our Intel agencies more than Israel - they have saved lives but they are not fool proof - do we want to risk the security of the world on one mistake?

"Israel is in discussions with the United States over this issue and I am confident that we can chart a path forward together," said Netanyahu.

"I ask, it's not when Iran will get the bomb - it is clear red lines that must be drawn today and Iran will back down. The IAEA has this information on online for all to see. Israel is united with the US. We are witnessing a clash between modernity and barbaric medievalism."

In conclusion, Netanyahu said: "The Jewish people have always looked to the future, we treat all with dignity and compassion. Israel prays for peace - let us now commit ourselves to defend our modern values and protect civilization against a nuclear holocaust."
